The Ha'apais are the archetypical South Pacific Islands where warm turquoise seas lap gently onto white sand beaches caressed by waving coconut palms! Tropical sunshine pierces the shimmering blue-green water, tickling the vibrant life of the coral reef below and lighting up a kaleidoscope of colour!
Sail over this enchanting world in Cat Knapp, our Polynesian style 12m sailing catamaran designed for ocean voyaging, whose wide, stable decks provide the perfect platform from which to enjoy a day where the priority is to simply relax!
Cat Knapp is fully equipped with a galley, bathroom facilities, bunks and a sheltered wheelhouse. She is a comfortable, safe and thoroughly enjoyable boat to sail on!
Day Sailing Trips
We leave our base at Sandy Beach Resort around 9am and motor out through the home reef into the bay, raise the sails and relax into the gentle motion of Cat Knapp as she peacefully makes her way across the watery blue! The weather will determine which direction we head in, but we generally stop for a home cooked lunch at one of our snorkel spots where you can work up your appetite snorkeling amongst the colourful and varied marine life of the reef. Cat Knapp has an ingenious platform that lowers into the water making it easy for everyone - young and old - to get into the water.
After lunch we set sail again for another favourite snorkel spot, usually seeing flying fish and if we're lucky, also the resident pod of spinner dolphins who are shy creatures, but occasionally join us.
Live aboard Trips
Outside the whale season we also run live-aboard sailing trips, but you'll need to contact us so we can tailor make them to suit your holiday requirements. We'd generally recommend planning for more than 3 days and we can take along dive gear as well as kayaks and camping gear for the more adventurous! There are islands to explore within in a day's sail of our base, reefs to dive and snorkel over, deserted beaches to wander along and Tongan hospitality to experience in the villages
